About Uni and Umi (Jessie)
Hello, my name is Jessie (she/her). I’m the artist and small business owner behind Uni & Umi! I am a Detroit local with a BFA in Illustration and a minor in Creative Writing.
Uni & Umi is run by just me, fueled by the idea of kindness and friendship and inspired by Otaku culture and all things nostalgic. The brand came to light during the darkest of times for me, during the peak of the Pandemic when I was mentally and physically in a rut. I created two friends, a purple magical unicorn named Uni and my child persona Umi to keep me company. Everyday, I share and dive into their world, hoping to help others find the joy and compassion that saved me. Thank you so much for being here.
